KANSAS CITY, MO – Johns Hopkins men's soccer senior Cole Rosenberger has been named a First Team United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-America it was announced yesterday. In addition, he and junior Achim Younker were named to the United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-South First Team.  
 
To be eligible for selection, the student athlete must be nominated by his head coach and meet the following criteria: Have at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) throughout his or her career; Start more than 50 percent of all games and be an elite player as supported by playing honors (i.e., all-conference) or contributions to the success of his team; Plays for a current United Soccer Coaches College Services member institution; Be a junior or above in academic standing at the current institution; Be in his second year at the current institution if a transfer student.
 
Those meeting the above criteria are considered by the committee for one of the Scholar All-America teams. The committee reviews both the academic and athletic accomplishments of the nominees. Hopkins has now produced seven United Soccer Coaches (formerly NSCAA) Scholar All-Americans, including four under head coach Craig Appleby. Rosenberger and Younker are the only men's soccer players from the Centennial Conference to be selected.
 
Rosenberger is majoring in environmental engineering major with a minor in applied mathematics and boasts a 3.94 cumulative GPA. Off the field, he spent this past summer as a Curve Governance Intern at the Exelon Corporation. Rosenberger spent the previous summer in Madrid, Spain at the WINDINSPIRE Research Program.  He is also at tutor through Pilot Tutoring and the Johns Hopkins Center for Student Success. He has been named the Centennial Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Year in each of the last two seasons.
 
A two-time All-Centennial Conference honoree, including a unanimous first team selection this season, Rosenberger started every game (78) of his career. He totaled six goals and seven assists while anchoring a back line that posted 41 shutouts and a .701 goals against average. He is third among all active players in both assists and points.
 
Younker, a public health major with a 3.37 GPA, earns CoSIDA Academic All-District honors for the second straight season. This past summer, he served as a Community Impact Intern with Strong City Baltimore. He is also a Thread volunteer, serving as a mentor and "family member" for an academically underperforming Baltimore City high school student. In addition, he is an active member of the Johns Hopkins Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and helped create the JHU Student-Athlete Mentor program.
 
Younker is a two-time First Team All-Centennial Conference selection and earned Second Team All-America honors from the United Soccer Coaches Association last season. He missed the first seven games of the season, yet still tied for the team-lead in assists (5), tied for second in points (13) and tied for third in goals (4). In addition, Younker was tied for fourth in the league in assists and points. With just 43 games under his belt, he ranks 20^th in school history in career points (55) and is 18^th in career goals (24).
