Treinen & Adamson Named United Soccer Coaches All-America

Complete United Soccer Coaches All-America Team

Johns Hopkins' Tim Treinen and Franklin & Marshall's Shay Adamson have been named to the United Soccer Coaches All-America team. Treinen earned second team honors while Adamson was selected to the third team.

Treinen led the Blue Jays to a 15-1-8 record and the program's first trip to the NCAA Quarterfinals since 2006. He is the first Blue Jay to earn All-America honors since 2019 and is the first defender since 2018. Overall, he is sixth defender to be named a United Soccer Coaches All-American.

The Centennial Conference Defensive Player of the Year, Treinen anchored one of the nation's stingiest defenses. JHU is tied for first in the nation with 16 shutouts and ranks third in goals against average (0.405). The 10 goals allowed are tied for fourth fewest in program history. In addition to surrendering just 10 goals in 24 games, the Blue Jay defense allowed just 6.6 shots per game. Treinen scored the first goal of his career this season, the game-winner in the NCAA First Round versus Lehman.

In addition to his first All-American honor, Adamson will graduate from Franklin & Marshall as a two-time all-region and two-time All-Centennial Conference performer. A dominant force in the midfield, Adamson scored three goals and added four assists throughout the 2022 season. His four helpers ranked sixth in the Centennial Conference, while his three goals were all game-winners to rank third in the conference for that category. Adamson scored his first game-winning goal against Penn State-Harrisburg before tallying the decider in back-to-back shutout victories against Ursinus and Johns Hopkins.

Adamson helped the Diplomats to the NCAA Tournament during each of his three competitive seasons. He made 61 appearances during that time, starting 58 of those matches. He caps his career with eight career goals and 11 career assists. His five career game-winning goals rank in the top 10 in program history, while also holding top 20 marks in assists per game, minutes played, and games started despite only having three seasons.
