Rawleigh Reaches 500-Win Milestone

CARLISLE, Pa. – Gettysburg swimming head coach Mike Rawleigh reached a major milestone, recording his 499th and 500th career dual-meet wins with a sweep at Dickinson College in Centennial Conference action Wednesday evening.
 
The women's team (7-1, 5-1 CC) earned a 119-85 victory while the men's squad (4-3, 2-3 CC) captured a 110-95 decision in a meet that came down to the final event.
 
Now in his 31st season at the helm, Rawleigh has led the Bullets to a combined record of 500-94-2 for an incredible winning percentage of .841. He has guided the women's team to a 277-30-2 record while steering the men's squad to a 223-64 mark. Rawleigh has also directed Gettysburg to 18 undefeated dual-meet seasons, achieving the feat seven times with the men's team and 11 times on the women's side. The Bullets have also won 40 Middle Atlantic Conference or Centennial Conference titles under his tutelage.
 
The Bullet women won six of 11 events on the night, including victories in both relays. Gettysburg opened the evening by winning the 200-medley relay, as freshman Inayah Sherry (Philip, Barbados/Peddie School [N.J.]), junior Caroline Moyer (Malvern, Pa./Great Valley), sophomore Savannah Llewellyn (Plainfield, N.J./Plainfield), and freshman Paige Griesse (Granville, Ohio/Granville) edged out the Red Devils by two-hundredths of a second with a winning time of 1:54.76.
 
The Bullets followed up with four individual wins: junior Nicolette Gibbons (Centerport, N.Y./Harborfields) in the 200-freestyle (2:02.08), sophomore Allison Mueller (Shillington, Pa./Governor Mifflin) in the 50-freestyle (25.77), Llewellyn in the 100-butterfly (1:02.28), and Moyer in the 100-breaststroke (1:08.94).
 
Gettysburg closed out the night by capturing the 200-freestyle relay, as freshman Lindsay Hayden (Enfield, Conn./Suffield Academy), senior Lea Candelmo (Oakland, N.J./Immaculate Heart Academy), junior Sydney Boswell (Linwood, N.J./Mainland Regional), and Mueller clocked a time of 1:43.19.
 
The men's team came away with five victories and also claimed both relays. Freshman Jakob Hegna (Brielle, N.J./Manasquan), sophomore Tyler Dougherty (West Chester, Pa./Salesianum School [Del.]), senior Tyler Gould (Darien, Conn./Darien), and senior Zack Moser (Wyomissing, Pa./Wyomissing) started the night by winning the 200-medley relay in 1:37.81.
 
Dougherty added an individual victory in the 50-freestyle, touching the wall first in 21.37. Freshman Francisco Nieves (Alexandria, Va./Edison) followed with a win in the 100-freestyle (49.95) before Hegna captured the 100-backstroke in 54.99.
 
The Bullets led 97-91 heading into the final event of the night – the 200-freestyle relay. Gettysburg clinched the victory, and Rawleigh's 500th win, as freshman Parker Sorenson (Evergreen, Colo/home-schooled), senior Kevin Hartnett (Wayne, Pa./Radnor), Moser, and Gould swam to a winning timing of 1:28.48.
