Four Individuals, One Relay Earn All-America Honors on NCAA Day One

Four Centennial Conference individuals and one relay secured All-America accolades on day one of the NCAA Swimming Championships on Wednesday in Indianapolis, Ind. Three CC records fell during Wednesday's prelims. 

Franklin & Marshall's Chris Schiavone produced the top finish of day one, placing third in the 50 freestyle with a time of 19.96 to secure first team All-America honors. Teammate Brendan Cline grabbed second team All-America recognition with a 13th-place finish in 20.19. 

In the 200 IM, Swarthmore's Andrew Karpenko earned second team All-America status with a 14th-place finish in 1:49.63. Earlier in the day, Karpenko swam to a time of 1:49.12 in the prelims, breaking his own conference record in the event. 

The F&M's men's 200 medley relay team of Alec Wahl, Tom Graminski, Cline, and Schiavone captured second team All-America honors with a 15th-place finish in 1:29.81. In the prelims, the quartet broke their own Centennial record at 1:29.34. 

On the women's side, Ursinus' Sophie Lear placed 11th in the 50 freestyle (23.25) to collect All-America honors. Lear broke her own CC record in the 50 free during Wednesday's prelims with a time of 23.24.
