GREENSBORO, N.C. - Swarthmore's Andrew Karpenko became the third male swimmer in program history to finish inside the top-eight as he earned All-American distinction in the 200 breaststroke on Saturday night on the final day of the NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships. Karpenko earned his third All-American honor of the meet and the sixth of his career.

Karpenko earned a spot in the finals with an eighth place finish in the 200 breaststroke prelims. The junior's historic swim set a new program and conference record in the event as he touched the wall at 1:58.37, breaking his own previous record of 1:59.27 that he set at the Centennial championship last month.

In the evening session, Karpenko placed eighth overall in the top finals with a time of 2:00.72 to secure All-American status.

The Garnet totaled 17 team points to finish tied for 27th among the 46 teams that scored points at the four-day championship event.
