Morgan, Canedy Named USTFCCCA Regional Athletes of the Year

Haverford's Greg Morgan and Johns Hopkins' Justin Canedy were honored as the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches (USTFCCCA) Mideast Region Track and Field Athletes of the Year, respectively. Hopkins assistant coach Alex Jebb was also honored as the Mideast Assistant Coach of the Year. 

A total of 15 Centennial Conference athletes garnered all-region accolades in 19 different events. Haverford led the way with seven honorees, followed by Johns Hopkins (4), Dickinson (2), and Swarthmore (2). For the full list of all-region award winners, click here

Morgan, a senior from Hollidaysburg, Pa., finished the regular season with the division’s top times in the Mile and 3000 meters (4:05.01 and 8:14.56, respectively). At the NCAA meet, he compete in the 3000. He was the winner of the Villanova Invitational in the 3000 meters and is unbeaten this season in both the mile and 3k. He anchored his crew’s DMR to a Centennial Conference title with a 4:10 split and wa his team’s best leg for conference runner-up plaudits in the 4×800.

A freshman from Medina, Ohio, Canedy scored 36 points at the Centennial Conference Championships, including 18 in the field. He will compete in the heptathlon and the high jump at the national championships.

As coach of multi-events and jumps at Johns Hopkins, Jebb helped the Blue Jays achieve new heights this year, including a school record in the long jump, and top-ten national rankings in the long jump and heptathlon. Two of Jebb’s athletes scored an incredible 68 points between them at the Centennial Conference championships. Jebb is in his 4th year as Assistant Track & Field Coach at Johns Hopkins.
