LANCASTER, Pa. -- Dickinson's Christopher Scharf, Johns Hopkins' Justin Canedy and Ahmed Elmogi, and Ursinus' Carl Blickle took home top honors to headline the 2022 All-Centennial Men's Indoor Track & Field Team.
Scharf collected Outstanding Track Performer accolades after setting championship records in both the 5,000 meters (8:24.66) and 3,000 meters (14:22.79) en route to gold. Also the CC's Runner of the Year in cross country last fall, Scharf continues to add to his stellar senior campaign with another major award. He is the sixth Red Devil runner to secure top performer honors.
Canedy was named Outstanding Field Performer for the second championship in a row, becoming the sixth athlete in CC history to win the award multiple times, and the second from Hopkins. Canedy tied the meet record in the long jump (7.14m) and also won the triple jump. Canedy has now won five different events throughout his career at CC indoors - the long jump (twice), triple jump, high jump, 60-meter dash (twice), and 60 hurdles. He is the fifth Blue Jay to win top field performer laurels at least once.
Elmogi was tabbed as the Outstanding Rookie of the championship with runner-up finishes in the 60 and 200 dashes, and a gold in the distance medley relay. He is the third JHU athlete to receive Outstanding Rookie honors since the award began in 2014.
Blickle was selected as Coach of the Year for the second year in a row after leading the Bears to their second-straight runner-up finish at the championship. The Bears set a new program record with 170.7 team points.
