WINCHESTER, Va. – Peter Merkel (Ellicott City, Md./Homeschool) finished fourth to lead McDaniel to its second team title in as many weeks, winning the Hornet Harrier hosted by Shenandoah in men's cross country action on Saturday.

A week after the Green Terror placed five runners in the top six, the squad notched five of the top 12 finishers to finish with 40 points and outdistance second-place Marymount by 18 points.

Merkel finished the 6K course in a time of 20:22.0.

Chris Jones (Centreville, Va./Centreville) led a trio of McDaniel runners across the line in seventh place with a time of 20:32.3.

Calvin Ball (Westminster, Md./Westminster) and John Alexander (Lutherville, Md./Calvert Hall) followed Jones across with times of 20:36.7 and 20:36.8, respectively.

Jim Heilman (Lutherville, Md./Baltimore Lutheran) rounded out the top quintet, finishing 12th with a time of 20:42.4.

Alex Panagakos (Hampstead, Md./North Carroll) finished 25th in a time of 22:25.8 while Noah Connor was 27th in a time of 22:42.9. Andrew Valliere (Laurel, Md./Atholton) rounded out the Green Terror competitors in a time of 25:07.3 to place 43rd.

McDaniel returns to action at the Stevenson 4K on Tuesday, Oct. 21.
