Dickinson at Ursinus (Friday, 3:00)
The Red Devils (10-22, 6-6 CC) and the Bears (16-13, 5-5) meet in
a crucial doubleheader that was moved up a day to avoid the
impending weekend rain in the Mid-Atlantic. The teams are tied for
fifth place in the chase for one of the four CC playoff berths and
cannot afford another league loss. Allison
Pfrommer leads Ursinus in hitting with a .372 average and
19 RBI. Dickinson pitcher Chelsea Homa has struck
out 153 hitters in 135 2/3 innings.
Gettysburg at McDaniel (Saturday, 12:00)
It's a showdown for first place in the Conference as the Bullets
(18-11, 9-3) drive down Route 97 to take on the Green Terror (18-8,
10-2). Gettysburg is led by the 1-2 combo of Joy
Hallfors and Melissa Tighe who are
hitting .423 and .419, respectively. McDaniel counters with the
league's top pitcher in Caroline Brehm who has
fanned 236 batters in 128 1/3 innings to fashion a 14-6 record and
a 1.36 ERA. A sweep by either team would secure a playoff bid. It
would be the Terror's first trip to the Centennial tournament since
2006.
