Saturday's Softball Recap

Washington College 3-7, Dickinson 4-2
The Dickinson College softball team (6-18, 2-4 CC) split a double-header with visiting Washington College (15-12, 7-3 CC) on Saturday. The Devils scored in the bottom of the ninth to take the opener, 4-3. Chelsea Homa (Newton, N.J./Newton) recorded 13 strikeouts to earn the win. She scattered five hits in a complete game effort. The Shorewomen captured the nightcap, 7-2. In the circle, senior Jill Piasecki (Galena, MD/Kent County) got the win and improves to 6-3.  She went six innings, allowing seven hits, two runs, one earned, walking two and striking out three to get the win.

Ursinus 6-6, Gettysburg 7-8
Sophomore Maggie Maguire picked an opportune time to connect on her first home runs of the spring as her eighth-inning blast to right field capped a thrilling sweep of visiting Ursinus College in Centennial Conference softball action at Bobby Jones Field.  Gettysburg (14-9, 5-1 CC) and Ursinus (12-11, 2-4 CC) battled to extra innings in both ends of Saturday's doubleheader and it was Maguire who put an end to both games.

Muhlenberg 9-7, McDaniel 3-13
McDaniel scored 10 runs in the fourth and fifth innings of game two to overcome a 7-3 deficit and forge a split with Muhlenberg in Centennial Conference (CC) softball action on Saturday. The Green Terror (17-7, 9-1 CC) rapped out 16 hits in the 13-7 nightcap victory, led by three from Jackie Liebowitz (Bellerose, N.Y./Benjamin N. Cordozo). The Mules (12-12, 7-3 CC) took advantage of a pair of first-inning miscues to build a 4-0 lead en route to a 9-3 game-one win.
