The Dickinson softball team dropped a pair of games to neighboring Messiah College on Tuesday night. The Falcons claimed the opener, 9-1, and took the nightcap, 5-0. Senior shortstop Melissa Osborn had a hit in each game.

The Franklin & Marshall softball team rattled off 13 runs on 14 hits in a 13-1 drubbing of Penn State-Abington before completing the sweep with an equally impressive 17-5 win on Tuesday afternoon in non-conference action. The Diplomats improved to 11-15 on the season while the Nittany Lions fell to 10-6. Malorie Sassaman led the way in the opener with a 3-for-4 effort at the plate, scoring two runs and batting in a pair. Danielle Murphy also went 3-for-4 with two runs, two RBIs and a pair of steals. Nine Diplomats combined for 15 hits, including six doubles, in the nightcap.

Sophomore Melissa Tighe (Little Falls, N.J./Mt. St. Dominic Academy) singled in the game-winning run in the 10th inning of game two as Gettysburg completed a sweep of Hood College in non-conference softball action on Tuesday. Gettysburg (15-13) received a pair of home runs by sophomore Ashley Iannone (Great Meadows, N.J./Blair Academy) and freshman Michelle Fox (Newton, N.J./Blair Academy) as part of a 13-4 victory in the opening game. The nightcap took twice as long as Tighe logged her third hit and third RBI of the contest in the top of the 10th. Senior Joy Hallfors (Mt. Airy, Md./Linganore) tallied a pair of singles in game one to move into a tie for first place on the program's career hits list. Hallfors is tied with Mandy Wilson '02 with 174 base hits.

The Haverford College softball team registered 21 hits on its way to sweeping Widener University in a non-conference doubleheader at Class of '95 Field on Tuesday afternoon. The Fords claimed an 11-3 five-inning victory in game one and then finished off the day with a 6-3 win in the night cap. Claire Fitzgerald (4-2) earned the win in the nightcap by scattering seven hits over five innings of work. Winesett registered her second save of the day. Sara Tauriello (7-1) struck out five in three innings to register the win in game one. The victory allowed Haverford to match last season's win total (17) with 12 regular-season contests still remaining on the schedule.

A four-hit day from sophomore Chelsea Matzko and strong pitching powered the Swarthmore College softball team to a sweep of visiting Eastern on a warm Tuesday afternoon. The Garnet (16-10) won the first game 6-0 and the second game 10-4. Matzko pounded out four hits on the day, including a double in each game and three RBI. Juniors Jesslyn Lammerts and Rose Pitkin added extra-base hits in the first contest while senior Danielle Seltzer finished with three hits. Sophomore Emma Madarasz led the offense in the second game with two singles. Swarthmore also got strong performances in the circle, as both junior Melissa O'Connor and junior Sarina Lowe tossed complete games. O'Connor allowed just four hits and struck out five in the first game while Lowe allowed just six hits and no earned runs in the second.
