Ursinus Secures Top Softball Seed

Ursinus has earned hosting rights to the Centennial Conference softball tournament for the first time since 2010. The Bears were idle on Saturday but managed to clinch the top seed thanks to a split between Dickinson and Washington College. 

Entering Saturday's final day of the regular season, Ursinus, Dickinson and Washington College were all in the hunt for the No. 1 seed. The Red Devils and Shorewomen split a twinbill on Saturday, which secured the top seed and right to host championship weekend for the Bears (27-12, 12-3 CC). 

The Centennial softball tournament will feature five teams for the first time ever in 2023, with the winner of the 4/5 matchup earning a spot into the double-elimination portion of the championship. CC Tournament action is set to open up with No. 5 Swarthmore (20-16, 8-8 CC) at No. 4 Gettysburg (24-13-1, 11-5 CC) on Tuesday at Gettysburg. The winner of that contest will advance to the double elimination tournament, beginning with a matchup at Ursinus on Thursday. 

Thursday's other matchup will feature second-seeded Dickinson (23-13, 12-4 CC) hosting third-seeded Washington College (19-17-1, 11-4-1 CC). 

The tournament will then shift to Collegeville, Pa. on the campus of Ursinus for championship weekend on Saturday and Sunday.
