Chili Named First-Team All-America

Complete Team

Muhlenberg women’s basketball senior Alexandra Chili added yet another piece of hardware to her already extensive collection, and it’s the most prestigious one to date.

Chili was named to the 2012 Women’s Basketball Coaches Association Division III Coaches’ All-America Team. She is the first player in Muhlenberg history to be named to the 10-member team, which was selected by a vote of representatives from each of the eight geographical regions and a chairperson.

It’s the fifth All-America honor in program history; she also earned honorable mention last season. The other Mules to earn honorable mention were Meghan Courtney in 2007 and Lauren Boyle in 2008 and 2009. But Chili is the first player to be selected to the team (the WBCA does not select a second or third team).

A two-time first-team all-region selection, Chili closed out her career with the Centennial Conference records for men or women for points (2,002) and three-pointers (336). She is the first player in school and conference history to reach the 2,000-point mark and has made 94 more career threes than any CC women’s player and 30 more than any CC men’s player.

A complete player, Chili not only led the conference in scoring at 17.4 points per game, but she also led Muhlenberg in assists and was second in rebounding, steals and blocked shots. She helped the Mules win their third CC championship of her career and fifth in the last seven seasons.
