BRYN MAWR, Pa. – Senior Elyse Tierney scored five goals and won a career-high seven draw controls to propel the Swarthmore College women's lacrosse team to a 21-3 triumph over Bryn Mawr on Wednesday, March 25 at Applebee Field.
 
Swarthmore's offense erupted for 10 goals in less than 10 minutes to start the game. After Fiona Steele of Bryn Mawr (3-5, CC 0-3) tied the game at 1-all at the 27:13 mark, the Garnet rattled off 12 unanswered by having seven different players find the back of the net. Senior Sara Lentricchia capped the hot stretch with a goal at the 9:29 mark to help the visitors build a commanding 13-3 advantage at the break.
 
The Garnet continued to pad their lead by using a balanced offensive attack that featured seven different goal scorers in the second half. Freshmen Shivani Chinnappan and Christina Labows most notably netted their first career markers with 8:46 and 3:04 remaining in regulation respectively to help lift the visitors to the 18-goal win.
 
Swarthmore outshot Bryn Mawr 33-6 and was defensively led by juniors Tazmin Bailiff-Curtis, Antonia Violante and Nathalie Perry-Freer. The Garnet won 20 draw controls, while ground balls were even at five apiece. In addition to Tierney's offensive outburst, the Garnet also got hat tricks from freshman Kathryn Restrepo, junior Lizzie Kolln and sophomore Briana Narzikul.
 
Junior Connie Bowen picked up her fifth victory of the season for Swarthmore by only having to make one save in the first half between the pipes. Sophomore Corinne Candilis, who relieved Bowen in the second half, did not yield a goal and turned away one shot. Bryn Mawr's Katie Alpert suffered the loss despite making seven saves.
 
Swarthmore (5-2, CC 2-0) has now won four games in a row and will return home to face Drew on Monday, March 30 at 7 p.m.
