(Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson women's lacrosse team held off a late run by visiting Washington College to win the first round match-up of the Centennial Conference playoffs on Wednesday afternoon at Biddle Field.

The teams traded scores over the opening seven minutes with sophomore Anne Dunster (Cos Cob, Conn./Greenwich) and senior Maddy Siebold (Mountain Lakes, N.J./Mountain Lakes) netting goals for the Red Devils.

Cecily Docktor made the score 3-2 before Dickinson rattled off six straight to take an 8-3 lead into halftime. Dunster tallied back-to-back goals to start and end the run, putting five on the board in the first half.

Dunster finished a beautiful lead pass from Mindy Corney (Ballston Lake, N.Y./Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) to score on a clear attempt and converted a free position in the final minute of the half.

Docktor started the second half, sandwiching a pair of goals around a scoring strike from Sam Marmo (Upper Saddle River, N.J./Immaculate Heart Academy) to make the score, 9-5, with just over 21 minutes to play.

Morgan Moran cut the deficit to 9-6 before Siebold tucked a shot inside the post at the 15:49 mark.

The Shorewomen continued to challenge as Docktor handed out a pair of assists in a 3-0 Washington run, to pull the visitors within a goal, with just under three minutes on the clock.

The teams traded turnovers in the final minutes with Maddie Parker (Bethesda, Md./Walt Whitman) coming up with a pair of huge take-aways, the final with just eight seconds remaining as Dickinson would run out the clock to advance to Saturday's semifinals at Gettysburg.

Dunster led the attack with five goals and one assist while Siebold struck twice on the day, adding three draw controls. Marmo added a pair of goals to go with four draw controls and Parker forced three turnovers with some outstanding defense.

Senior goaltender Tara Cuddihy (Basking Ridge, N.J./Ridge) returned to the line-up, making nine saves and controlling four ground balls. Classmate Molli Haimerl (Old Greenwich, Conn./Greenwich) added three GBs and well and did a great job on clears.

Docktor led Washington (10-7) with three goals and four assists while Haylee Solomon made 14 saves.

The #4-seed Red Devils improve to 10-7 overall. They travel to #1-seed Gettysburg College on Saturday to face the Bullets at 12:00 pm.
