Johns Hopkins 8, McDaniel 0
The fourth-ranked Johns Hopkins women's soccer tied its
highest goal total of the season as the Blue Jays downed Centennial
Conference opponent McDaniel, 8-0, Wednesday afternoon behind
sophomore Pamela
Vranis' first career hat trick. With the win, the Blue Jays
improve to 16-0 on the season and 9-0 in the Centennial while the
Green Terror fall to 2-13 overall and 1-8 in the CC.
Gettysburg 1, Franklin & Marshall
0
The Gettysburg College women’s soccer team picked up its
sixth consecutive victory by holding Franklin & Marshall
College to just four shots in a 1-0 victory at Sponaugle-Williamson
Field Wednesday night. Gettysburg (11-5, 8-1 CC) won 1-0 for the
fourth time in the last five matches and set up an epic
regular-season finale with fourth-ranked Johns Hopkins University
(16-0, 9-0 CC) on Saturday, Oct. 29, at 7:30 p.m. The winner will
earn the top seed and right to host the 2011 Centennial Conference
Tournament. The Bullets wasted little time in jumping ahead as
junior Lindsey
Lyons picked up her first goal of the season in the
third minute. Freshman Meg
Castranova set the stage with her third assist on a
corner kick this fall.
Haverford 1, Washington College
0
Katie
Van Aken's goal in the early minutes of Wednesday night's
Centennial Conference women's soccer match-up between Haverford
College and host Washington College was the only score in the
visiting Fords' 1-0 victory, a win that pushes Haverford to the
brink of an assured berth in the league's postseason playoffs.
Haverford (11-1-4, 6-1-2 CC) sits alone in third place in the
conference standings and a win in the season finale -- Saturday at
1 p.m. against visiting Swarthmore College -- would clinch a
spot in the semifinals of the Centennial's postseason tournament.
Swarthmore 2, Bryn Mawr 0
The Swarthmore College women's soccer team (11-5, 6-3)
continued its march towards the Centennial Conference playoffs,
defeating Tri-Co rival Bryn Mawr by the score of 2-0 on Wednesday
afternoon from the Main Line. Freshman Emma
Sindelar - the reigning Centennial Conference Performer of the
Week - and sophomore Aly
Passanante each scored for Swarthmore, which extends its
winning streak to four matches. In goal for the Garnet, senior Marie
Mutryn and sophomore Kaitlyn
Sipiora split time to earn the shutout, combining for four
saves.
