GENEVA, N.Y.—With senior Katie Dougherty's goal in the 105th minute, No. 24 Swarthmore College Women's Soccer beat Susquehanna University 1-0 and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. The Garnet (15-3-2) return to the round of 32 for the third straight season.

The temperature Saturday was at or below 32 degrees all game (the coldest game of the year for Swarthmore), and neither team could get a shot past the goalkeepers during regulation. The Garnet dominated time of possession and peppered Susquehanna with 24 total shots, 17 of which went on frame. Swarthmore's midfield and defense kept the River Hawks away and limited to just a single shot in each of the first three periods. Amy Shmoys saved all three shots that came her way in 104 minutes.

Hannah Lichtenstein led Swarthmore with eight shots on goal, Dougherty added four, Marin McCoy had three more and Sydney Covitz had a pair on target.

In the second overtime, McCoy possessed the ball on the right wing and served a pass into the box. The pass took a couple hops but was corralled by Dougherty. Dougherty wound up and took a shot, tucking it between the left post and the diving Susquehanna goalkeeper.

Swarthmore improved to 3-0-2 in overtime games this season with the win.

The Garnet faceoff with No. 3 William Smith College at 1 p.m. on Sunday. William Smith (18-1) trounced Lasell College 5-0 in the opening round.
