KANSAS CITY, MO - A trio of Centennial Conference women's soccer players have been named to the United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-America Team. Swarthmore's Marin McCoy and the Johns Hopkins duo of Maggie Coulson and Emily Maheras received the honor. McCoy was named to the first team, Coulson earned second-team honors, and Maheras landed on the third team. 

To be nominated for a place on a United Soccer Coaches scholar team, a student-athlete must be a junior or older who starts at least 50 percent of her games and significantly contributes to the team, and must have a cumulative GPA above a 3.3.

McCoy, a biology major from Denver, Colorado, is being recognized as one of the most talented student-athletes, both academically and athletically, in the nation. In addition to this honor, in 2018, McCoy has also been named Academic All-America, All-America First Team, All-Region First Team, All-Centennial First Team and Player of the Year, Centennial Conference Tournament MVP, Academic All-Centennial, Centennial Academic Honor Roll member and Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Team member. 

Coulson received yet another award as she has been named to the First Team All-Centennial Team, Centennial All-Academic Team, First Team Google Cloud Academic All-District and a Second Team All-American this season. The junior captain posted career highs in goals (9), assists (4) and points (22) this year as she started all 21 games for Hopkins this season. Off the field, the Pittsburgh, PA native sports a 3.64 GPA as an economics major and is the co-director of academics at the Alpha Phi Sorority.  She participates in numerous philanthropic events and has had summer internships at the Cloudburst Group and at Williams Coulson Johnson Lloyd Parker and Tedesco.

Maheras has a 3.41 GPA as a mechanical engineering major and finished the season with six goals and 15 points as she started all 21 games for Hopkins this season. Maheras was also named to the CC first team, academic All-Centennial and to the Google Cloud Academic All-District Team. Off the field, the Bernardsville, NJ native is a member of the Alpha Phi Sorority where she has helped raise over $12,000 to bring awareness and improve women's heart health and helps coordinate fundraisers. She also won a mechanical engineering design championship and designed a walker for a two-year-old with Cornelia de Lange syndrome and secured funding for the project from Hopkins.
