BALTIMORE, MD –- Johns Hopkins University Director of Athletics Jennifer S. Baker announced the appointment of Daniel Weiler as the Blue Jay women's soccer coach today.  Weiler comes to Johns Hopkins after a highly-successful seven-year run as the head coach at Christopher Newport (VA).
 
"We are thrilled to have Dan Weiler join our team," Baker noted.  "He emerged from a deep pool of highly-talented and accomplished candidates as the right person to lead our women's soccer program into the future.  Dan has a demonstrated record of building nationally-competitive programs, and I am excited to see the continued growth and success of our student-athletes under his direction."
 
Weiler guided Christopher Newport to unparalleled success during his seven years in Newport News.  The Captains posted an overall record of 113-22-12 (.810), including a 55-3-3 (.926) mark in the Capital Athletic Conference (CAC), under his guidance.  Christopher Newport won six CAC regular season titles and three CAC tournament titles, advanced to the NCAA Tournament six times and made the program's first-ever trip to the national semifinals in 2018.
 
The 2018 d3soccer.com National Coach of the Year, Weiler coached six All-Americans, a three-time CoSIDA Academic All-American, one NCAA Elite 90 Award Winner, 20 NSCAA/USC All-Region selections, five CAC Players of the Year and four CAC Rookies of the Year while at Christopher Newport.

Prior to his time at CNU, Weiler spent 11 seasons as the head women's soccer coach at Concordia (MN) and built the Cobbers into a regional power.  In his 11 seasons there, he compiled a record of 144-58-24 (.690), led the team to the NCAA Tournament in six of his final seven seasons and was twice named the NSCAA Regional Coach of the Year (2009, 2012).  He led the Cobbers to the Sweet 16 three times in his final four years before moving to Christopher Newport after the 2012 season.
 
During his time at Concordia, he also spent five years coaching the men's soccer team (2007-11) and transformed the program from a three-win team in his first season to a 13-win team in his final year.
 
In all, Weiler boasts an 18-year women's coaching record of 257-80-36 (.737) and he ranks among the 25 winningest active Division III women's soccer coaches by percentage.  He is the only active women's soccer coach in the nation with 100 or more wins at two different Division III schools.
 
Weiler becomes the second head coach in Johns Hopkins women's soccer history.  He inherits a team that posted a 17-3-4 record, won the Centennial Conference title and advanced to the NCAA Quarterfinals in 2019.  Johns Hopkins has qualified for the NCAA Tournament in each of the last 15 years and 18 times in the last 23 years.
 
A native of Fargo, North Dakota, Weiler graduated Magna Cum Laude from Moorhead State University in 1996. He and his wife, Kilee Kadrie-Weiler, have two daughters, Fyrn and Noella.
