Dickinson and Johns Hopkins each posted shutout victories in the second round of the NCAA Tournament on Sunday, setting up a rematch of the Centennial Conference Championship in next weekend's Sweet 16, while Swarthmore's season came to a close with a 1-0 loss at 25th-ranked Carnegie Mellon.
In Amherst, Mass., 11th-ranked Dickinson knocked off host and 20th-ranked Amherst 1-0, scoring with just five seconds remaining in the first half. Just prior to halftime, Elizabeth Krause found the back of the net for the Red Devils for the eventual game-winning tally.
In Baltimore, Md., 12th-ranked Johns Hopkins received goals from both Maggie Coulson and Emily Maheras as the Blue Jays advanced to the Sweet 16 for the 10th time in program history with a 2-0 victory over Christopher Newport.
With the wins, the Red Devils (16-2-4) and Blue Jays (16-2-4) will meet for the third time this season on Saturday at a to-be-determined site. Stevens (17-3-1) and William Smith (18-1-1) make up the other half of the sectional bracket along with JHU and Dickinson, with the winner headed to the Final Four.
