CC Record-Tying Five Players Named United Soccer Coaches All-America

Complete United Soccer Coaches All-America Team

A Centennial Conference record-tying five players have been named to the United Soccer Coaches All-America team. This marks the second time the CC has had five players earn All-America honors from the national coaches association, with the other time occuring in 2015.

Three players collected first team awards - Johns Hopkins' Bonnie Shea and Katie Sullivan, and McDaniel's Hannah Schepers. McDaniel's Jules Dotterweich and F&M's Meg O'Callahan secured second team recognition.

Shea and Sullivan are the first selections to the first team for JHU since Michelle Santangelo in 2017. This is the 13th season in a row in which the Blue Jays have had an All-American.

Sullivan becomes the 10th Blue Jay freshman to earn All-Region honors and just the fifth to be named to the first team. In her debut season, Sullivan led the team in points, totaling 25, good for the eighth-most by a Blue Jay freshman. The Pennsylvanian scored 10 goals and handed out five assists, compiling a seven-game streak from October 9 to October 30 in which she tallied at least one point. Sullivan was the fourth Blue Jay in program history to be named Centennial Conference Rookie of the Year earlier this month. Her 10 goals as a freshman put her ninth in Blue Jay freshman history.

Shea certainly managed to make an impact in her first year with the program after transferring in from Dartmouth. The Ivy League product led the team in minutes played, totaling 1,749 of them while starting every game at center back. While leading and organizing one of the top defenses in the country, Shea also contributed on the offensive end, scoring three goals in 2021, all via the header. Shea played at least 90 minutes in 16 of the 20 games.

Schepers, a senior forward, was a first-team all-region selection and the CC Player of the Year and became the first player in program history to earn first-team All-America honors. Schepers started all 21 games and led the team with 15 goals and 35 points. She had four two-goal games this season.

Dotterweich, a senior defender, was a first-team all-region and all-conference selection. Starting all 21 games, she has anchored a backline line that allowed just six goals in 21 games for a 0.28 goals-against average. As a team, the Green Terror posted 17 shutouts this season.

O'Callahan becomes just the fourth member in F&M program history to claim All-America accolades, and the first since 1990. The junior midfielder led the conference in assists (10) and ranked second in shots (70), third in points (26), and fifth in goals (8). O'Callahan set new program records for shots on goal (40), while her assist total finished tied for fifth in a season. O'Callahan also collected first team All-Centennial Conference and All-Region V honors, appearing in all 21 games for a Diplomat team that took down three ranked opponents during a record-breaking season.

This year’s All-Americans will be recognized for their accomplishments at the United Soccer Coaches All-America Ceremony & Reception on Saturday, Jan. 22, 2022, at the Kansas City Convention Center in conjunction with the united Soccer Coaches Convention.
