GETTYSBURG, Pa. – The Haverford College women’s
tennis team locked up the final spot in the upcoming Centennial
Conference championship tournament after defeating host Gettysburg
College, 6-3, on the final day of the regular season. The Fords
(13-6, 6-4 CC) will be the fifth seed in the tournament and travel
to fourth seed Muhlenberg for the opening round Wednesday, April
27. Haverford won two points in the doubles matches. The
newly-formed No. 1 team of Katie Wettick and Helen Fisun picked up
an 8-3 win. Wettick earned her 13th singles win of the year with a
6-1, 6-0 victory over Katie Taylor at No. 1.
Ursinus 9, McDaniel 0
COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Ursinus College women's tennis
team closed the 2010-11 season with a 9-0 blanking of McDaniel to
finish 7-10 and 3-7 in the Centennial Conference. The Bears took
both doubles matches contested, as the Green Terror did not field a
third flight doubles team. At number one flight, the team of senior

Kurtz (Spring City, Pa. / Owen J. Roberts) and sophomore Jessica
Tyrrell (Shamong, N.J. / Seneca) defeated Brittany Starlings
and Carissa Grove, 8-3. In singles play, Kurtz defeated Starlings,
6-0, 6-4, at number one flight.
