Hopkins Will Face Washington for Tennis Championship

CHESTERTOWN, MD -- Host Washington College, the ninth-ranked team in the Atlantic South region, defeated visiting Swarthmore, ranked 11th in the region, 5-1, in a Centennial Conference Tournament semifinal match this afternoon at Schottland Tennis Center.  The Shorewomen (16-3) advance to tomorrow's championship match at Johns Hopkins against the winner of today's Johns Hopkins versus Muhlenberg semifinal match. The Garnet finish their season at 9-9.

The Shorewomen took a 1-0 lead as juniors Jordan Finnegan (Wilmington, DE/Archmere Academy) and Brittany Marshall (Dagsboro, DE/Worcester Prep [MD]), the region's seventh-ranked doubles team, blanked Emily Rosenblum and Rosie DuBrin, 8-0, at No. 1 doubles. The Shorewomen ran their lead to 4-1 by winning the first two singles matches to finish in straight sets as Finnegan rolled past DuBrin, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 3 and Marshall, ranked 22nd in the region in singles, beat Rosenblum, 6-4, 6-1, at No. 2.
