The Haverford College women's tennis team edged host Muhlenberg
College, 5-4, on Tuesday evening in Centennial Conference action to
register its seventh victory in its last eight contests.
Alex Ferrara delivered the winning point of the
tightly-contested match against the Mules (2-7, 2-3 CC) with a 6-4,
6-1 victory over Emily Szulman at No. 2 singles. Ferrara's
straight-set win was the Fords' third point from singles action as
Kate Donches and Caitlin Gallagher also earned victories. Haverford
and Muhlenberg split the singles, while Haverford took the 2-1
advantage in doubles.
Franklin & Marhsall 9, McDaniel

Franklin & Marshall rolled to convincing victories at every
spot in the lineup in a 9-0 defeat over visiting McDaniel on
Tuesday in Centennial Conference (CC) women's tennis action at
Brooks Tennis Center. The Diplomats (4-6, 2-3 CC) snap a four-match
losing skid with the win, while the Green Terror (2-10, 0-3 CC)
remain winless in conference play. The Diplomats jumped out to a
3-0 lead with impressive wins at each of the three doubles
spots.
Washington College 7, Bryn Mawr

Freshmen Gyeyeon Kang and April
Weaver improved to 10-0 at No. 2 doubles this spring as
visiting Washington College defeated host Bryn Mawr College, 7-2,
in a Centennial Conference women's tennis match this afternoon in
Bryn Mawr, PA. Kang and Weaver shut out Kendall Baller and Melina
Koukoutchos, 8-0, at No. 2 doubles for the Shorewomen (4-6, 3-3
Centennial). Senior Campbell McNicol and freshman
Marielle McIntyre were also winners in doubles,
defeating Catherine Austin and Jenny Vogel, 8-4, at No. 1. The Owls
(4-7, 0-5) got the win at No. 3 where Tirsa Delate and Rachel
Genovese were 8-5 winners over senior Kat Cohen
and junior Amy Stevens.
Swarthmore 7, Ursinus 2
The Swarthmore College women's tennis team (8-2, 5-0) kept its
unblemished conference record intact with a 7-2 win over Ursinus on
Tuesday afternoon from the Faulkner Courts. Senior Emily
Rosenblum, senior Kelsey Johnson and
junior Katie Samuelson all won a pair of match for
the Garnet, which has now won four consecutive matches. The Garnet
dominated doubles to jump ahead 3-0. Rosenblum teammed with junior
Lia Carlson to win at No. 1 doubles 8-2 over the
Bears' Heather McMasters/Deborah Choi. Junior Brooke
Wilkins and Samuelson won at No. 2 8-5 and Johnson and
freshman Jackie Lane paired up win at No. 3 8-1
over Ursinus' Renee Tornea and Audrey Whitebloom. In singles, the
Bears picked up points at No. 4 and No. 5 singles, but it wasn't
enough to overtake Swat.
Dickinson 6, Gettysburg 3
The Dickinson women's tennis team, ranked 20th in the Atlantic
South Region, posted a 6-3 victory at Gettysburg on Tuesday
afternoon. The Bullets opened with a pair of wins in doubles,
taking the second and third flights, 9-8 and 8-4. The Red Devils
answered in singles, winning 5-of-6 matches. Senior Alysia
Rodgers earned points in the top singles flight, winning
in straight sets (6-3, 6-2). She claimed the top doubles spot as
well, joining Shannon Lavery for an 8-3
decision.
