Blue Jays Top Stevens, 5-0, in NCAA Second Round

CAMBRIDGE, MA – The 15th-ranked Johns Hopkins women's tennis team beat Stevens, 5-0, on Saturday in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. The Blue Jays improve to 20-3 on the season and push their win streak to 18 matches.
 
Hopkins jumped out to a 3-0 lead as the Blue Jays dropped just one game in doubles' play. Anjali Devireddy and Christina Huynh took the first point of the match with an 8-0 win over Polina Odintseva and Isabella Dona at third doubles. Kamila Wong and Jay Xiao turned the same trick as they beat Stephanie Untermeyer and Agatha Malinowski at first. Mary Beth Hurley and Emily Javedan completed the doubles' sweep with an 8-1 at second over Anya Sharma and Emma Eguia.  
 
Niamh Harding quickly pushed the Blue Jays' lead to 4-0 as she lost just one game in her win over Dona at fifth singles. Celina Liu then clinched the win when she defeated Fionna Flores 6-0, 6-2 at sixth.
 
Hopkins advances to the NCAA Sweet 16 and will take on host and sixth-ranked MIT. The match is scheduled for a 12:00 pm start on Sunday.
