Five individuals and one relay will represent the Centennial Conference at the NCAA Women's Indoor Track & Field Championship this weekend. Johns Hopkins qualified three individuals and one relay while Swarthmore had two individuals qualify for the championship field.
The championships will be held March 10-11 at the Birmingham CrossPlex in Birmingham, Ala., with Birmingham-Southern College and the City of Birmingham serving as hosts.
For each women’s individual event contested, including the pentathlon, the top 20 declared student-athletes were accepted into the competition. For each relay event contested, the top 12 declared relay teams, one per institution, were accepted into the competition.
JHU's Victoria Kadiri leads the list of entries as the reigning national champion on the long jump. The junior will aim for repeat title in the long jump and also compete in the triple jump and pentathlon. Kadiri ranks first in the nation in the triple jump, second in the long jump and fourth in the pentathlon entering the championship. Lauren Phillips alos ranks near the top of Division III this season for the Blue Jays in the 400 (2nd) and will compete in the 60-meter dash (16th) as well. Sara Stephenson rounds out the JHU individual competitors and will run the 3,000, where she ranks sixth in the nation.
The Hopkins 4x400 relay of Phillips, Grace Massillon, Monal Daterao, and Lianne Saussy enter the meet ranked ninth in the nation.
Swarthmore's Adria Retter and Rose Teszler will compete in the shot put and 800 meters, respectively. Retter is seeded eighth while Teszler is seeded 16th.
Kadiri, Stephenson, Retter and Teszler are all repeat NCAA qualifiiers.
