Haverford College's volleyball
team surrendered points grudgingly to fifth-ranked Eastern
University in a Main Line match-up Friday night, but the host
Eagles outlasted the visiting Fords for a 3-0 non-conference
victory. Haverford (10-12) led the once-beaten Eagles (24-1)
in all three games before succombing to the nationallly-ranked host
in each.
Saturday, October 22
Gettysburg 3, Muhlenberg 0
The Gettysburg College volleyball team is headed to the
postseason, that much is certain, but the Bullets are far from done
as they continued their bid for the top seed in the Centennial
Conference Tournament with a 3-0 victory over Muhlenberg College
Saturday inside Bream Gym. Muhlenberg (6-17, 4-5 CC) did not
catch Gettysburg (18-8, 8-0 CC) looking ahead to its final week
when the team plays fellow unbeaten Johns Hopkins University (18-4,
7-0 CC) and third-place Franklin & Marshall College (14-10, 7-1
CC). The Bullets handled the Mules 25-9 and 25-10 in the
opening-two frames before erasing a 12-2 deficit to take the final
set 25-23.
Haverford 3, McDaniel 0
Making quick work of host McDaniel College, the Haverford College
volleyball team streaked to a 3-0 Centennial Conference victory
over the Green Terror in a match that saw the Fords trail the hosts
only twice in three games. Haverford (11-11, 5-3 CC) led from
start to finish in the first (25-5) and third games (25-11) and had
to overcome only two McDaniel (0-23, 0-8) leads during a 25-9
game-two victory.
Johns Hopkins 3, Bryn Mawr 0
The Johns Hopkins volleyball team rolled to its ninth straight win
and its thirteenth sweep Saturday afternoon with a 3-0 win over
Centennial Conference opponent, Byrn Mawr. The Blue Jays won the
match with set scores of 25-18, 25-12, 25-16. Hopkins is now
19-7 on the season and 8-0 in the Centennial while the Owls fall to
9-15 overall with a 3-5 CC slate.
Swarthmore Quad Meet
Swarthmore 3, Susquehanna 1

Swarthmore 3, Scranton 0
The Swarthmore volleyball team (21-6, 5-3 CC) celebrated
homecoming and senior day on Saturday with a sweep of the
competition at the Garnet Weekend quad match in Tarble Pavilion,
shutting down Susquehanna 3-1, Richard Stockton 3-0 and Scranton
3-0.
Ursinus 3, Dickinson 0
The Ursinus College volleyball team moved its record to 12-11 with
a 3-0 win over Dickinson (3-17, 1-7 Centennial) on Saturday. Set
scores were 25-21, 25-22 and 25-11.

Sophomore setter Lauren White had a triple-double with 12 kills, 27 assists and 12 digs as host Washington College downed visiting Catholic, 3-0 (25-17, 25-18, 25-15) in a non-conference volleyball match at the Cain Athletic Center on Saturday afternoon in the third and final match of a tri-match. The victory also clinched a winning season for the Shorewomen. In the first match of the day, visiting Franklin & Marshall topped host Washington, 3-0 (25-23, 30-28, 25-14) in a Centennial Conference volleyball match. F&M swept Catholic, 3-0 (25-10, 25-15, 25-21) in the middle match. Washington is now 15-11 overall and 1-7 in the Centennial, while F&M is 15-10 and 7-1 respectively. Catholic drops to 21-6 with the two losses.
