Volleyball Aces Centennial Test

GETTYSBURG, Pa.  – Seven players recorded a service ace as Gettysburg College racked up a season-high 18 on the way to a 3-0 victory over Bryn Mawr College in a Centennial Conference volleyball contest Saturday afternoon inside Bream Gym.
 
Gettysburg (16-1, 3-1 CC) cruised to 25-6, 25-8, and 25-20 victories over Bryn Mawr (1-12, 0-4 CC). The Bullets set the tone with seven service aces in the opening set. Leading 14-8 in set two, sophomore Melissa Tringali(Cold Spring, N.Y./Haldane) held serve for the final 11 points and recorded four aces. The Owls kept things close in the final set, but three-straight errors by the visitors broke a 17-all tie and swung momentum back to the Bullets.
 
Tringali and classmates Caroline Sequeira (Millington, N.J./Watchung Hills) and Kasey Higgins (Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan) each posted four aces. Sequeira also led the defensive effort with seven digs and Higgins finished with six digs.
 
Freshman Allie Stranick (Havertown, Pa./Merion Mercy) paced the attack with eight kills in the final two sets. Freshman Maddie Buerle (New Providence, N.J./Union Catholic) posted six kills, while freshman Faith Adams(Hillsborough, N.J./Hillsborough) and senior Stephanie Blair (Chester, N.J./West Morris Mendham) each posted four kills and two aces. Blair totaled eight assists in two sets and junior Rachel Gombatz (Farmington, Conn./Farmington) dished out 10 in the final set.
 
Gettysburg hosts Susquehanna University on Wednesday, Oct. 4, at 7:30 p.m.
