Keckler Resigns at Muhlenberg

Keckler Resigns at Muhlenberg

After eight years as head volleyball coach at Muhlenberg, Alexa Keckler resigned to take the head coaching job at Division I Lehigh.

"I will be forever grateful to Muhlenberg College for the opportunity to lead the volleyball program for the last eight seasons. I am sad to leave such wonderful young ladies and such an amazing institution, but I am excited to begin the next chapter in my career.

"I would like to thank Corey Goff for his support and encouragement throughout this process and throughout my tenure. I would also like to thank President John Williams and Dean Allison Gulati for their professional and personal support."

In her eight seasons at Muhlenberg, Keckler established the program as an annual contender for the Centennial Conference championship. The winningest coach in program history, she compiled a record of 141-96 (.595) and led the Mules to the CC playoffs four of the last five years.

Just three seasons after tying for last place in the CC, the Mules won 20 matches and advanced to the CC championship match for the first time in 12 years in 2013. The following season, Muhlenberg reached the final again in a landmark season that saw the program win 25 matches, set the school record for longest winning streak (13), receive votes in the national poll for the first time ever and crown its first All-American in 10 years.

Keckler leaves the program in good hands: The 2017 team, which finished 24-6, received votes in the national poll and earned the program's highest NCAA regional ranking (fifth) ever, did not have a senior on the roster.

Keckler came to Muhlenberg in 2010 after five years as head coach at CC rival Gettysburg, where she compiled a record of 96-55 (.636), including a 40-10 (.800) CC mark.

Muhlenberg will conduct a national search for a new volleyball coach.
