Hopkins & Haverford Headed to NCAA Tournament; JHU Selected as Host Site

NCAA Bracket | NCAA Release

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- Johns Hopkins and Haverford are set to represent the Centennial Conference in the NCAA Volleyball Tournament next weekend. CC-champion, top-ranked, unbeaten, and defending national champion Hopkins was selected as one of the eight regional hosts, while Haverford earned at at-large bid to the tournament.

JHU will host an eight-team NCAA Regional in Goldfarb Gymnasium from November 12-14. The Blue Jays are hosting a regional for the second consecutive time as they also hosted in 2019 on their way to winning the program's first national championship. Johns Hopkins (29-0) will play Cabrini (14-17) in its opening match on Friday at 8 p.m.

In addition to Johns Hopkins and Cabrini, the Baltimore Regional also includes Rowan (27-5), Springfield (22-7), Tufts (18-5), Eastern (24-5), SUNY Cortland (26-3) and the Merchant Marine Academy (22-3).

Haverford (23-5) will head to Cambridge, Mass. to play matches at the MIT Regional, with action slated to begin on Friday. Haverford will take on UMass Boston (14-12) in the opening round. Other teams in the MIT regional include the host Engineers of MIT, Eastern Nazerene, Susquehanna, Maine Maritime, Bowdoin, and Johnson and Wales (Providence).

Forty-four conferences were awarded an automatic qualification for the 2021 championship. The final 20 berths were reserved for Pool C, consisting of institutions from automatic-qualifying conferences that are not the conference champion as well as independent institutions. Based on sport sponsorship numbers for 2021-22, there were no Pool B berths for this year’s championship.

The championship will be held Nov. 18-20 at Francis Fieldhouse in St. Louis, Missouri, with Washington University of St. Louis serving as host.
