Johns Hopkins Ties Division III Record with Seventh National Championship

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Johns Hopkins won its second-straight and seventh overall NCAA Women's Cross Country Championship on Saturday at E.P. Tom Sawyer Park in Louisville, tying the NCAA Division III record for the most ever by one program to headline Centennial Conference performances at the national championship meet.

JHU continued its astounding success at the national level, as they have now claimed seven NCAA championships since 2012, including four in the last five seasons. The Blue Jays haven't finished lower than fourth since 2011 and their seven NCAA Championships is now tied for most in Division III history with SUNY Cortland. Not only does Johns Hopkins tie SUNY Cortland for the most team championships, but head coach Bobby Van Allen has now tied Jack Daniels for the most-ever championships won by a head coach, also with seven.

The Blue Jays totaled 130 points to defeat second-place Claremont Mudd-Scripps by two points. Haverford finished 24th in the 32-team field with 567 points, while Dickinson placed 26th (610). Ella Baran led the way for Hopkins with a ninth-place finish (21:03.1), while Alex Ross (20th) and Paloma Hancock (21st) also collected All-America placings with top-40 finishes. Ashley Heidenrich (46th) and Diana Vizza (54th) rounded out the championship top five for Hopkins. 

Dickinson's Isabel Cardi ran to a top-10 placing and All-America honors for the second straight season, placing tops among Centennial runners with an eighth-place finish in 21:02.6, just ahead of Baran. 

The Haverford duo of Angelina Petrichenko (18th) and Izzy Miller (28th) collected All-America accolades for the Fords. Muhlenberg's Abby Dalton placed 47th.
