SUWANEE, Ga. – The Division III Commissioners Association released its regional award winners on Thursday with Dickinson College's Elaina Clancy earning Region V Student-Athlete of the Year honors.
Clancy is one of 20 recipients of the inaugural DIIICA Student-Athlete of the Year award, which is presented to graduating student-athletes who have distinguished themselves throughout their collegiate career in the areas of academic achievement, athletics excellence, service, and leadership.
This honor comes on the heels of the two-sport standout being named a Centennial nominee for the NCAA Woman of the Year award. Clancy was a member of the Dickinson cross country and track & field teams, capturing All-America honors in the 10,000 meters at the 2021 NCAA Championship.
Off the course and track, Clancy served in numerous campus and community organizations, including serving as the Battalion Commander of the Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) and Dickinson class president. The Boiling Springs native graduated with a 3.83 cumulative grade point average, earning a degree in law and policy with a minor in economics in May 2022.
Voting was conducted by the commissioners within each of the ten regions, with the top male and female honoree recognized as finalists for the Awards Committee to select the Division III Commissioners Association Men’s Sport and Women’s Sport Student-Athlete of the Year.
Each of the winners will advance to the national ballot for consideration for the 2021-22 DIIICA Men’s Sport Student-Athlete of the Year and Women’s Sport Student-Athlete of the Year.
The two national winners will be announced later this month.
