LANCASTER, Pa. – August 7, 2013 – Four-time defending Conference champion Johns Hopkins is the preseason favorite to capture the 2013 Centennial football crown in a poll of head coaches and sports information directors.
The Blue Jays, who won their seventh Centennial title last year, picked up 17 of a possible 20 first-place votes for 161 points. Voters were not permitted to select their own team. Franklin & Marshall was second in the balloting with three firsts and 139 points, while Ursinus was sloted for the No. 3 position with 122 points.
Muhlenberg (120) and Gettysburg (98) round out the top five, while Susquehanna (86), Juniata (57), Dickinson (54), Moravian (39) and McDaniel (24) follow.
The Centennial preseason poll has predicted the Conference champion in 13 of the last 15 years, including five in a row.
