McDaniel sophomore 133 Ryan O'Boyle won both his matches to advance to the semifinals of the NCAA Division III Wrestling championship in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

O'Boyle knocked off Heidelberg's Colin McDermitt, 8-3, in the opening round and pinned Dustin Weinmann of UW-La Crosse (5:40) in the quarters. The second-seeded O'Boyle will meet third-seeded Alex Gomez of Ithaca in this morning's semifinals.

Elsewhere, top-seeded 125 Paul Bewak of Johns Hopkins opened with a 16-4 decision of Murray of Rhode Island College before being upset in the quarterfinals by eighth-seeded Matthias Ellis, 3-0. Bewak remained alive in the consolation bracket with a 10-7 decision over Sean Kempfe of Cortland and will take on fifth-seeded Jesse Gunter of Baldwin-Wallace this morning. Centennial 125 champ Michael Mui of Merchant Marine fell to fourth-seeded Mike Fuenffinger of Augsburg, 13-3, but downed #7 Daniel Page of Central, 13-6 in the consolations. Mui was ousted by sixth-seeded Robert Bidlingmaier of Olivet by fall.

NYU senior 141 Brandon Jones began his NCAA quest with a 5-2 decision over Nathaniel Behnke of UW-Eau Claire, but was toppled in the quarterfinals by Chicago's Charles Banaszak, 10-3. Jones remained alive in the consolation bracket with a 6-4 sudden victory decision over Dominick Giacolone and will meet fifth-seeded Wayne Black of Mount St. Joseph this morning. Johns Hopkins senior Henry Stauber was defeated by sixth-seeded Matt Adcock of UW-Whitewater, 5-3, but bounced back to knock off #4 Justin Holm of Olivet, 5-2, in the consolations. He will meet eight-seed Matt Holmes of Loras.

Ursinus 157 Richard Jasinski was pinned by #7 Mark Savenok of Wheaton in his opening match but rebounded to oust eighth-seed Brett Yonkovic of Wartburg, 3-1, in the consolations. He takes on #4 Jon Garrison of Mount Union this morning.

Bear 165 Anthony Carlo upset #6 Josh Sampson of Wartburg, 11-2, before falling to third-seed Kristopher Schimek of Ithaca, 10-7, in the quarters. He was eliminated in the consolations by Springfield's Dylan Foley, 8-4.

Stevens 184 Ryan Dormann decked #7 Jayden DeVilbiss of Luther in 4:28 to reach the quarters, where he fell to #2 Brian Broderick of TCNJ, 9-3. Dormann was ousted by Coe's Ryan Sheldon, 3-1, in sudden victory.

Ursinus 197 Christian Psomas dropped both his matches, falling to #5 Punahele Soriano of Wartburg, 6-5, and Shane Parcel of Roger Williams by fall.

Teammate Matan Peleg also went 0-2 at 285, losing to #3 Cody Kasprick of Concordia-Moorhead by fall and to Trinity's Kyle McGuire by tie-breaker.
