HOBOKEN, N.J. - Freshman Troy Stanich (133), senior Colin Navickas (165), and junior A.J. Kowal (197) each took home individual titles Saturday as the No. 6 Stevens Institute of Technology wrestling team captured its third-straight Centennial Conference championship at Canavan Arena in Hoboken. 

 Stevens is the first three-peat champion since Merchant Marine won four straight from 2008-2011.

Stevens scored 95.5 points in the first-place performance, besting second-place Ursinus' 79.5. The Ducks placed in eight of the 10 weight classes with second-place finishes for senior Rob Murray, junior Zach Wilhelm, sophomore Thomas Poklikuha, and a third-place finishes for sophomore Joey Borai and senior Danny Moore.

Stanich was named the championship's most outstanding wrestler. 

125: Christopher Tan, Ursinus
Tan became the first 125-pound champion for the Bears since 2008 with a dominating run through the first weight class. He started with a 17-1 technical fall over Muhlenberg's Connor McGee, then advanced to the title bout with his second victory this season against Johns Hopkins' Ricky Cavallo. The 7-4 decision was actually Tan's closest call, as the junior went on to rout the Ducks' Rob Murray, the defending CC champ, by an 11-3 count in the first-place match. Tan's resounding result avenged a 7-6 setback at the hands of Murray in the teams' regular-season meeting. 

133: Troy Stanich, Stevens
Top-seeded Stanich opened his morning with a 2:20 fall over McDaniel's Charles Wallace, followed by another one in 6:36 over Noah Malamut of Johns Hopkins to reach the final. The rookie jumped out to a 10-1 lead over second-seeded Zack Bylykbashi after two in the title bout, before polishing off the victory with 11 points in the third for the technical fall win. Stanich became the first freshman to win at 133 in the Centennial since 2010 as he kept his undefeated rookie season alive. 

141: Alvontae Drummond, McDaniel
Drummond, the top seed, opened his day with a 59-second pin of Muhlenberg's Joshua Hickey. In the semifinals, Drummond notched a 7-3 victory over fifth-seeded Alfred Corradetti of Ursinus. In a battle of the top two seeds for the title, Drummond captured his first title after a runner-up finish in 2016 with a 13-3 win over Gettysburg's Colin Devlin.

149: Alex Kramer, Ursinus
Kramer took his title thanks to a victory over a wrestler who had handed him a loss in the regular season. The Bears' senior notched technical falls over McDaniel's Clint Wright (15-0) and Washington and Lee's Zachary Papin (17-1) to set up a winner-take-all showdown with Stevens' Zach Wilhelm, who had defeated him 3-2 two weeks ago. This time, a 7-5 decision went the way of Kramer, who made it four 149-pound champs for the Bears in the last five years. 

157: Derek Arnold, Ursinus
Arnold, the top seed at 157, lived up to his billing with three dominating victories that led to his third career conference championship. The two-time 149-pound champion routed McDaniel's Wade Bishop, 16-0, in the quarterfinals and pinned Merchant Marine's Erik Beshada in 3:48 in the semifinals. Up next was a battle with second-seeded Thomas Poklikuha of Stevens. Arnold turned the clash of nationally ranked grapplers into a runaway, cruising to a 7-1 victory that made him the 25th three-time champ in conference history. It was Arnold's second defeat of Poklikuha in two weeks, following a 15-5 major decision in the regular-season meeting. Arnold won the Chris Clifford Award, given to the senior who earned the most career points at the CC championship. He is the sixth Ursinus wrestler to capture the honor.

165: Colin Navickas, Stevens
Top-seeded Navickas picked up the 11-1 major over Dane Morgan of Johns Hopkins to begin his championship, before an injury default catapulted him to the final. Navickas was up 11-7 when the injury occurred to fourth-seeded Quinn Merrigan of Gettysburg. Once in the final, Navickas topped second-seeded Joe Scott 8-4 to win the title. With the win, Navickas became the first back-to-back champion at 165 since 2011.

174: Jared Forman, Johns Hopkins
Johns Hopkins senior Jared Forman stepped onto the mat for the 140th time in his career in the 174-pound title match at the Centennial Conference Championships on Saturday. Seven minutes later, he had the second conference title of his career to his credit as he topped Gettysburg's Daniel Ebert, 9-4. The victory improved Forman's season record to 23-12 and makes him the sixth Johns Hopkins wrestler to win two or more Centennial Conference titles. Forman and the third-seeded Ebert went nearly the entire first period with no scoring before Forman scored a late single-leg takedown to grab a 2-0 lead. Ebert got a point back by escaping before the period ended and then escaped quickly from the bottom position to start the second and that period ended 2-2. Working from the bottom to start the third period, Forman quickly earned an escape of his own and then scored a strong double-leg takedown that he used to put Ebert right to his back and earn two near-fall points. Ebert sandwiched a pair of escapes around another Forman takedown to account for the final scoring in Forman's 9-4 victory.

184: Patrick Rooney, Merchant Marine 
Senior Patrick Rooney (Belgrade, Minn.) earned the 2017 Centennial Conference Championship at the 184-pound weight class on Saturday at the Centennial Championships, hosted by Stevens Institute. This is Rooney's second conference title of his career, as he also claimed the crown back in his sophomore campaign in 2015. He went a perfect 3-0 on the day with wins over conference opponents Nathan Wertheimer of Johns Hopkins in the first round (12-3 major decision), Rexx Hallyburton of Washington and Lee in the semifinals (7-1 decision) and Cody Richmond of Ursinus (11-6 decision) to finish first in the bracket. 

197: A.J. Kowal, Stevens
Top-seeded Kowal dominated Zachary Francis with a pin in 2:10 in the opener, before doing the same to fifth-seeded Camden Stoops of Gettysburg in 1:25 to reach the final. Kowal faced off against second-seeded Blake Bunce of Merchant Marine in the championship, where he came away with the 5-0 decision win. With the championship, Kowal became just the 26th wrestler in conference history to win three individual titles. 

285: Paul Triandafilou, Gettysburg
Sophomore Paul Triandafilou (Derwood, Md./Georgetown Prep) would not be denied in his return to the Centennial Conference Championship as the Gettysburg College sophomore claimed the heavyweight title for the first time on Saturday. Triandafilou, who came into Saturday's event ranked eighth in NCAA Division III by the National Wrestling Coaches Association, was the top seed and unbeaten when he entered last season's conference tournament and subsequently upset in the semis on the way to a third-place showing. The Gettysburg sophomore was paired against Washington & Lee University's Matt Kaminer in the final. Triandafilou had beaten Kaminer in overtime twice this season, but the third meeting would need no extra time. After the Gettysburg sophomore scored an early takedown to take a 2-0 lead, Kaminer tallied a pair of escapes to tie the contest heading into the decisive third period. Triandafilou burst out of the bottom position to start the third period and then capitalized on Kaminer's takedown attempts, turning defense into offense and tallying a pair of takedowns to jump in front 7-3. The riding time point also went to Triandafilou who improved to 23-1 and became Gettysburg's first heavyweight champion since Kevin Poplaski '13 in 2012.
