Franklin & Marshall 108, Gettysburg 97

Franklin & Marshall edged Gettysburg 108-97 in a battle of unbeaten Centennial Conference teams Saturday afternoon. The Diplomats finished the regular season with a 7-0 CC mark, 8-4 overall. The Bullets dropped their first CC meet of the season and finish 6-1, 7-3. Franklin & Marshall won six events with two of the victories coming by tenths of a second. Ana Franzluebbers edged Gettysburg's Ali Roth in the 200 free with a 1:58.67. Roth touched second with a 1:58.87. Laura Bassford took first in the 200 fly with a 2:17.64 just ahead of Johanna Persing (2:17.77).

 

Swarthmore 107, Dickinson 98

The Swarthmore women's swim team continued its season full of surprise successes on Saturday, as the Garnet girls (5-2, 4-2) won a 107-98 thriller against a strong Dickinson team in front of a Senior Day crowd at Ware Pool. Led by a double-win from star freshman Rebecca Teng, the women were in the lead from the first event and, although Dickinson fought throughout the meet, emerged victorious in the end.  Teng won the 200 IM (2:14.64) and the 200 breaststroke (2:32.55). Although Dickinson won six events to Swarthmore's five, the Garnet depth was enough to carry the day, as the women put in at least a second-place finish in 10 of 11 events.

 

Washington College 105, McDaniel 98

The Washington College women's swim team won the 200 freestyle relay, the final event of the meet, by one one-hundredth of a second to record a 105-98 Centennial Conference win over visiting McDaniel this afternoon inside Casey Swim Center. The Shorewomen (5-5, 2-4) Centennial and Green Terror (2-5, 2-5) were tied at 94-94 entering the relay. Washington's 200 medley relay and senior Rachel Glasser each broke pool records earlier in the meet. Freshman Hilary Badger swam the anchor leg of the meet-deciding relay for the Shorewomen and trailed by five one-hundredths of a second when she jumped into the pool, but made up the deficit as the Washington posted a winning time of 1:42.83 to McDaniel's 1:42.84. Glasser broke the pool record in the 500 freestyle in 5:11.06. Emma Duesterhaus led McDaniel, notching one of the squad's four individual victories. Duesterhaus touched first in the 100 backstroke with a program-record time of 1:01.00.

 

Ursinus 110, Bryn Mawr 81

The Ursinus College women's swimming team closed its dual meet schedule on Saturday afternoon with a 110-81 win over Bryn Mawr. The Bears won eight of the first nine events in the meet before swimming exhibition. Freshman Malena Lair Ferrari was a double-winner for Ursinus, capturing the 100 free (54.91) and the 200 IM (2:17.77). Meredith Davis recorded Bryn Mawr's only win on the afternoon. She won the 50 yard freestyle by more than two seconds with a time of 25.88.
