GETTYSBURG, Pa. - It is shaping up to be a memorable final night of the 2015 Centennial Conference women's swimming championship, as defending champion Ursinus holds a 33-point lead over Gettysburg.
The Bears have 462.5 points, while the Bullets and Franklin & Marshall are right on their heels with 429.5 and 429 points, respectively. Swarthmore is fourth with 307, followed by Dickinson (298), McDaniel (238), Washington College (202) and Bryn Mawr (108).
Swarthmore opened the evening session with a record-setting performance in the 200 medley relay in 1:47.79. Franklin & Marshall freshman Melissa Mullin captured the 400 individual medley, touching the wall in 4:32.59, setting a meet record that was just .02 shy of her Conference record.
Garnet senior Supriya Davis won the 100 fly in 56.33, while Ursinus junior Corinne Capodanno earned gold in the 200 free in 1:51.48. Gettysburg soph Caroline Moyer captured the 100 breaststroke in 1:05.76 and teammate Savannah Llewellyn took first place in the 100 back in 58.08. Ursinus capped the evening with a win in the 800 free relay in 7:41.71.
The final day of competition begins at 10 a.m. with prelims with the finals slated for 6 p.m.
NOTES
- Swarthmore won the 200 medley relay for the fourth consecutive year
- Swarthmore senior Supriya Davis became the first four-time winner of the 100 butterfly.
- Freshman Savannah Llewellyn became Gettysburg's first winner in the 100 backstroke since 2005.
