GETTYSBURG, Pa. - Ursinus successfully defended its title at the 2015 Centennial Conference women's swimming championship at Gettysburg's Bullets Pool.

The Bears won the A and B finals of the 400 free relay to edge Franklin & Marshall, 667.5-644. Gettysburg was third with 586.5 points, followed by Dickinson (472), Swarthmore (438), McDaniel (323), Washington College (289) and Bryn Mawr (141).

Franklin & Marshall freshman Bridget Dromerick was named the meet's Outstanding Performer and Outstanding Rookie. She won the 200 back and 500 free and captured the silver in the 200 free.

Diplomat senior Katie Grant became the first-ever four-time winner of the 1650 freestyle, taking the gold in 17:34.34. Dromerick won the 200 back by nearly five seconds, touching the wall in 2:04.33. Swarthmore's Kate Wiseman also became a four-time champion in the 100 freestyle with a 51.90 clocking.

Ursinus freshman Olivia Tierney recorded a big win for the Bears, taking the gold in the 200 breaststroke in a Conference and meet record time of 2:21.71. Swarthmore senior Supriya Davis won the 200 fly in 2:05.99, becoming the event's first four-time champion.

Ursinus wrapped up the championship with wins in both finals of the 400 free relay. The A relay won in 3:30.77.

NOTES

  • It was a night for four-time event winners - F&M's Grant in the 1650, Swarthmore's Wiseman in the 100 free and the Garnet's Davis in the 200 fly. All three are the first women to win their event all four years.
  • The 23.5-point difference is the third-closest margin in the Conference's 22-year history. The Bears defeated Gettysburg by 7.0 points a year ago, while the Bullets held off Ursinus by 7.5 in 2013.
  • Dromerick is the Diplomats' eighth Most Outstanding Performer and first since Jenna Walters in 2007. She gives F&M back-to-back Outstanding Rookie awards as Jillian Albus captured the award last winter.
