2016 Outlook

The Mules have finished second in each of the last five seasons and are looking for the 10th Centennial title and first since 2010 ... Palladino is one of the top QBs in the country and is surrounded by talented skill position players ... eight starters are back on a defense that has not allowed more than 20 points per game since 1999 ... the September 24 game in Allentown against Johns Hopkins could determine the Centennial champion.

 

 


Head Coach Mike Donnelly

Donnelly (Ithaca ‘75) is the winningest football coach in school history with a 131-72 record in 19 seasons … he was named Centennial Coach of the Year in 2008 and 2010 and South Region Coach of the Year by the AFCA in 2007 … his Mule teams have won seven Conference titles and reached the second round of the NCAA tournament twice (2002, 2007).

Muhlenberg ranks third in total defense (265.28 ypg) and sixth in scoring defense (14.94 ppg) among all D3 programs since 2002 and this fall could improve those numbers ... senior John Feaster, a two-time first-team All-CC corner, leads the secondary ... senior Mike Luby also earned first-team All-CC honors at linebacker after recording 11.5 sacks ... senior Michael Hogan was a second-team All-CC down lineman, while soph Luke Wiley was one of two freshmen named to the All-Centennial team.

The punting and place-kicking jobs will be won in camp ... Delaney is the primary kick returner, averaging 21.6 yards on kicks and 7.1 on punts.

 

Frank Marino Field at Scotty Wood Stadium

Scotty Wood stadium includes a playing field resurfaced with AstroTurf GameDay Grass 3D in 2008, an eight-lane all-weather track resurfaced in 2014, bleacher seating for 3,000, lighting and a scoreboard and press box. The facility, the first of its kind in the Lehigh Valley, is home to the Mule field hockey, football, lacrosse and outdoor track teams.

Dedicated at the 1999 football home opener, the complex bears the name of two of the most beloved figures in Muhlenberg’s athletic history, both of whom were inducted into the Muhlenberg Athletic Hall of Fame in 2002. The stadium is named in honor of the late Milton W. "Scotty" Wood, founder of food service giant Wood Dining Services. The field is named for the late Frank Marino, who coached football from 1970 to 1980, men’s lacrosse from 1968 to 1977 and volleyball from 1988 to 1995.
